Guthridge Teacher Honored

Kala Robinson, 4th grade teacher at Guthridge Elementary,
received the 2010 Kansas State Horizon Award.
She is one of only 16 elementary teachers in the state
to receive this award for excellence as an early career teacher.

team on their first place finish at the Carl Junction basketball
tournament. Tevin and Tarial Johnson were both named to the
All-Tournament team and James Jackson was named Tournament MVP.

Students Entertain
USD #503 Suzuki Strings students,
under the direction of Jennifer Pauls,
entertained Christmas shoppers at Walgreens and ACE Hardware.
The students played a repertoire of Christmas music they have learned
over the last month.

8th Graders Visit the Ropes Course
Mrs.
Alvord's 8th Grade AVID class spent the day at the Ropes Course at
Greenbush. The purpose of this activity is to build teamwork
within the class.

Viking Tennis Places 6th at State
Congratulations to the Viking
Tennis Team, placing sixth
at the state tournament. All six members of the team qualified
for the state tennis tournament that was held this weekend in Topeka.

this week from generous community sponsors. Students that wear

Shaun
Hill Youth
Football Camp
185 youth attended
the 5th Annual Shaun Hill Youth Football Camp sponsored by the Parsons
Police Department and featuring Shaun Hill, 49ers Quarterback and the
Parsons Vikings on July 13-15. Kids from Southeast Kansas worked
side by side with kids from as far away as Eastern Tennessee.
Money raised will help support youth football programs in Parsons.
