Neighbor to Neighbor Storm Clean-Up

Parsons High School
students blanketed the City of Parsons on Tuesday removing storm debris
and helping clean up neighborhoods. The volunteer effort was cut
short by the bad weather, but not until many trailers of limbs and
sticks had been removed.

graduates from the class of 2009 good luck in the future. Thank
you to each of the graduates and their families for sharing their years

Awards

Health Science Academy students attended the Kansas
HOSA Spring Leadership Conference in Topeka and came away with numerous
awards. The Parsons team brought home 3 first place awards, 7
second place awards, and 2 third place awards.

National Title I
Distinguished School

A celebration was held at Garfield Elementary School
Thursday evening, May 7th, honoring Garfield for being
named a 2008 National Title I Distinguished School. Many parents
and students visited the school, viewing
work displayed by each class.

Fun, Food and Fitness Event

April 16th brought a huge crowd out to Parsons High
School for the Family Fun, Food and Fitness Event.
Students, parents, staff, and community members were invited to this
free event that encouraged people to practice healthful behaviors.

Kindergarten
Preview
Future Kindergarten students visited their schools on Thursday, April
9. Each student and their parents visited the classrooms, met
their teacher, and ate lunch at the school.

Students at Parsons High
School were recognized for their academic accomplishments with an
assembly. Escorted to the new auditorium by the drum line,
students were recognized who scored exemplary on the Kansas Assessment
tests and achieved academic
excellence by making the honor roll.

Parsons High School and Labette Health teamed up to
present the "Nothin' But Career Nets"
on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. More than 75 businesses were
represented and approximately 750 students attended. PHS was host
to students from Erie, Cherryvale, St. Paul, Chetopa,
Oswego, LCHS and Parsons High School.
Congratulations
on such a successful event.

Assessment Testing

Students across the
district begin taking their Kansas Assessment tests this week in
Parsons. Teachers and students at Lincoln Elementary held a Pep
Assembly on Monday to cheer the students on to success.
