Construction Update:
November 2007
The elementary project is completed except for a
few cosmetic
items on the punch list. Each building renovation included new roofs,
office
area, flooring throughout the buildings, and tornado safe rooms. In
addition,
Lincoln has three new classrooms and two small group rooms. Garfield
has a new
media center and music room, two small group rooms, and new restrooms.
Guthridge has two new classrooms and three small group rooms. The
elementary
schools also are ordering new playground equipment and materials and we
hope to
expand the hard surface playground area, too.
The lighted tennis courts and track located on the
high school
campus also are completed. Some auxiliary work such as the addition of
shot put
and discus throw areas are in process now. Patrons may access the track
from
the northwest corner turnstile entrance. Please use the outside lanes
for
walking so that we may get even wear on the synthetic surface. This
will
preserve the track from premature need to resurface.
The high school community room, formerly the
auditorium, is
scheduled to be completed by the end of November. The concession stand
will be
located in the new community room and will be ready for this winter’s
events.
The community room also will temporarily serve as a classroom
throughout the
construction and remodel project. New construction is in full swing on
the east
side of the high school building. The classroom addition will be
finished in
April and we will move the second floor classes to this area so we can
begin
the remodel on the second floor. The footings and floors have been
poured for
the gymnasium, multipurpose and locker rooms. Work has also started on
the new
auditorium. The new media center to be located on the southwest of the
main building
and the cafeteria extension will begin soon.
We hope that you come and visit our renewed
facilities.
Thanks so much to the community for your support of the bond election.
