This course gives students a comprehensive overview of child
development from pregnancy on up. A focus is given on the ages

development. Strong, positive parenting skills are critical in
today’s world. The effect of these skills impacts home and
employment situations. This course is great for students wanting
to explore child care or elementary education as a career.
This class does not meet the Kansas Regents Qualified Admission
Curriculum.

WELLNESS AND NUTRITION

The first nine weeks students will discover how proper nutrition and a
quality lifestyle impacts physical, emotional, and social health.
Students will study nutritional needs of the body and food sources for
meeting these requirements. The second nine weeks kitchen
laboratory experiences will stress the correct methods for preparing
foods with emphasis placed on planning well-balanced meals that are
nutritional as well as appealing. This class is for students who
will be managing their own homes or entering a career in food science.
