FOUNDATIONS OF ALGEBRA

This is a year course that will introduce the basic concepts of Algebra
necessary to build a strong foundation to help a student prepare for an
algebra class the following year.

Algebra I is a year course that will cover units in expressions and
equations, linear functions, variables, equations, the real number
system, problem solving, polynomials, nonlinear functions, radical and
rational functions and data analysis. An introduction to
factoring polynomials, algebraic fractions, and applications of
fractions and using equations and systems of equations to solve
problems will occur.

Algebra 1A is the first year of a two year course in Algebra 1.
The course will give the student multiple experiences to Algebra topics
with increased real world relevance topics with increased real world
relevance topics. Topics covered include: Expressions and
equations, linear functions, variables, equations, the real number
system, and problem solving.

The course will give the student multiple experiences to Algebra topics
with increased real world relevance topics. Topics covered
include: Polynomials, nonlinear functions, radical and rational
functions and data analysis. An introduction to factoring
polynomials, algebraic fractions, and applications of fractions and
using equations and systems of equations to solve problems will occur.

Geometry is the study of a deductive system of reasoning and the
application of geometric concepts. The course covers undefined
terms, basic definitions, parallel lines, planes, right triangles, and
congruent and similar figures. Students will be exposed to and
required to contrast proofs by deductive reasoning, informal proofs,
and formal proofs, and indirect proofs.

Algebra II is a continuation of Algebra concepts needed to excel in
higher mathematics. A year long course that covers topics:
Solving equations and inequalities, linear relations and functions,
systems of equations and inequalities, matrices, polynomials, quadratic
functions and inequalities, and polynomial functions.

Advanced Algebra and trigonometry is a full year course covering topics
in conic sections, rational expressions and equations, exponential and
logarithmic relations, sequences and series, probability and
statistics, trigonometric functions, and trigonometric graphs and
identities.
